Spartanburg Day School seeks a highly motivated professional to serve as the school's next Director of Admissions and Enrollment Management. The Director will provide the school's strategic leadership of enrollment planning and will lead the areas of recruitment, admissions, financial aid, information management, retention, marketing and communications. The Director is a senior level position, serving on the school's leadership team and reporting to the Head of School. The Director will play a key role in articulating the strategic enrollment plans of the school and in collaborating with other departments and faculty. The responsibilities are comprehensive of the admissions and enrollment management functions from inquiry through admission to assimilation into the school's culture, and retention of current families by strategic use of marketing and communications resources.

The Director of Admissions and Enrollment Management will:

  • Contribute to the mission and values of the school by recruiting and retaining mission-appropriate students who will benefit from the full educational experience at Spartanburg Day School;
  • Meet with prospective families to provide information about the school's mission, culture, programs and facilities, and appraise their willingness and commitment to effectively partner with the school;
  • Work collaboratively with division heads to evaluate student applications for admission and assess student applicants and families for admissibility throughout the annual admissions cycle;
  • Provide strategic leadership for the director of finance for the financial aid committee in the annual allocation and management of the school's need-based and merit-based assistance programs;
  • Manage a growing international student program alongside the head of upper school and international student program coordinator.
  • Develop, implement and oversee all admissions events including: open house events, pre-school preview days, scholarship competitions and others as developed;
  • Oversee and work with student and parent ambassador groups in student and family recruitment and retention;
  • Guide the development of Spartanburg Day School's strategies for marketing, communications, admission, enrollment and retention in ways that are consistent with the school's mission. 

  • Oversee the continued development and implementation of a marketing strategy that effectively markets the school both internally and externally, educating the public in ways that optimizes Spartanburg Day School's admission goals and retention efforts.
  • Oversee the school's communications program so that it supports the marketing efforts in the broad community, as well as meeting the needs of various internal constituencies and informing them effectively about school life; 

  • Remain knowledgeable about competing schools in the immediate area; 

  • Seek opportunities to advance the school at all times; 

  • Maintain an awareness of programs, services, and personnel within each division; 

  • Attend professional development opportunities at the local, state and national levels; 

  • Perform other related duties as assigned. 

Qualifications Sought:

  • Candidate should hold a bachelor's degree, master's preferred.
  • Three to five years of experience in admissions and enrollment management in an independent school or college/university setting.
  • Proven success in senior administrative role
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to details
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Work collaboratively with the broader school community
